Jon Shepherd

"As I watched Jon wash off his BYU vehicle yesterday, I thought, "He's done it again. He is returning another two-year-old, 32,000-mile dump truck looking like it is new." This is a truck that hauls soil, compost, sand and gravel, a vehicle that could easily look used or beat up. But Jon keeps such good care of the truck assigned to him that the last time he turned in a used dump truck the person charged with licensing vehicles literally thought Jon's old truck was a newly delivered truck.

Jon's attitude of care for and responsible use of sacred resources extends outwards. Although Jon is not the person who drives the dump truck everyone who does treats it with a higher level of care because they know Jon's standard. His stewardship of the resources entrusted to him encourages our whole shop to strive to look for the best way to accomplish tasks and to care for the equipment entrusted to us."
