Lynn Shumpert
TEAMWORK

“I would like to nominate Lynn Shumpert for the SAERA award in the category of Teamwork. Since fall 2023, Lynn has been the lead project manager for the new Eyring Science Center (ESC) annex to house the university's new electron microscopy facility and math education. This has been a very complicated and demanding leadership role and a unique task. The building is being constructed upon the existing ESC underground laboratory and is impacting faculty and staff from several departments and organizations. Lynn has professionally and effectively coordinated between multiple stakeholders to push this project forward toward completion. He runs multiple weekly coordination meetings between the BYU architects, subcontractors, construction crew, college and department leadership, and building occupants. At times, tempers have run high as leaks and unplanned disruptions have occurred in the underground laboratory. However, Lynn has always worked diligently, innovatively, and in a professional and caring manner. He is a true asset to BYU, and we are very grateful to have him on this project.”
